About

Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC) is a permanent race track, located at Jin Ding town in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China. Motorsport started back in 1993 in Zhuhai, which was originally on a street track. Usage of the street track carried on until 1996, which was when the current track was built, and with it became the first permanent circuit in China. Built with the aim of hosting the first Chinese Formula 1 race, the track never did hold the race, which eventually went to the Shanghai track. Teams started setting up at the track, as it was the home of Motorsport in China. Looking at the main track, it is 4.3KM long with 14 corners. Overtaking at the track is easier than some, with long straights and tight hairpins. Some of the largest events to be held at the track include the now defunct A1GP and the Asian festival of speed, several larger events were going to visit such as the F1 and Champ Car, but it did not materialise. Today other events include the Chinese Superbike Championship and Touring cars. In 2004 a Kart track was also added to the facility.
